New agro-ecology project

A new project to cultivate species already present in Portugal, but above all plants that are forgotten or rare in Europe. Most of these plants are native to warm or subtropical regions. These plants can be grown in this region of Portugal, where the climate is very sunny with positive temperatures all year round.

Projects have already been successfully launched by Pomar dos Sabores (we invite you to consult their website), located near our Quinta, and biggestminiforest. We will draw heavily on their results and advice.

Plant selection will be guided by the edibility of most of the species we plant.

We will also be taking a very special interest in saving water, which is becoming such a scarce resource on our planet, in intensive mulching, and in the principles of agroecology. For mulching, we'll be planting plenty of Vetiver grass and sugar cane.

As our project progresses, we'll be publishing information about the choice of plants, projects and techniques used. And of course, when the fruit, vegetables or condiments are available, you'll be able to enjoy them in the form of photos or during your visits.
